I was trying to take the train home from Tyson's at around 8:30pm today. The train went 1 stop to McLean and then it went out of service. We all got off the train and waited about 10 minutes for the next train. When the next train arrived, it went out of service as well, and an employee said on the intercom that no trains would be heading towards Falls Church or Ballston. There was no warning or announcement prior to let people know that these trains would be out of service. There was a shuttle to replace the trains, but the shuttle was completely full. I had to scramble to catch a different bus and it took over an hour for me to get home. The commute was much longer than I anticipated. WMATA is so annoying. They really need to work on improving the service. The trains and buses are very unreliable. Also, the machines will steal your money sometimes, and there's no way to get your money back. It can get very pricey (the machines stealing your money and some stops cost $5-$6 both ways). Some of the employees are rude and unprofessional. Some of the bus drivers will drive off before you even get to your seat, which can cause you to fall forward and injure yourself (I have fell and hurt myself due to the bus driver pulling off before reaching a seat multiple times). Some of the bus drivers will see you standing & waiting at the bus stop and drive right past you. Some of the employees have nasty attitudes. A lot of the trains and buses are dirty and smell like sewage. I think public transportation should be free, it's not worth paying for.

January 2023 5* WMATA is one of the leading transit agencies in the North America. I visited the HQ and learn more about the system. WMATA is doing amazing work and helping communities to move. The office is located next to L’Enfant Station.

Website is disappointing. Tried to reload card, entered correct info, “session timed out” twice, yet they didn’t fail to hold the money from my credit card and not actually load my smart trip card. No good.

Lots of potential for good reliable service but somehow they’re just completely incapable of making this transit system work functionally and consistently. Constant delays, not enough rail lines to effectively bypass stations, not enough communication about problems, not enough trains in the system, poor connectivity between trains and busses, total lack of technology being used, etc etc. Very frustrating to watch them whine about money constantly as the reason why they can’t make the necessary track and station upgrades that would provide tangible value to riders and the system as a whole, just to turn around and spend an obscene amount of money on ridiculous new fare gates.

Went in on weekday to apply for a transit card for Henry. The young woman who assisted us was prompt and very helpful. She took our info, captured Henry's photo and processed our cards right then and there. We were in and out the door with new cards in under an hour!

Much easier to get to than the old Metro station. Go to L'Enfant metro station. Exit the station for Maryland and 7th Streets.Make a left on 7th Street. Go to the next street down and turn left and go to the middle of the block and the building is on your right! There's never been anyone in there when I've gone so it's very convenient. You have to fill out a form to get your senior pass. Have at least $2 to get the MetroCard and then have them put any amount of money on there that you want!
